This video covers the 8th and last leg of our long journey going East from the Philippines back to Tahiti – this one just a short passage from Bora Bora to Tahiti.
How hard was our passage from the Philippines to French Polynesia, going eastward? In this video I recap on how we prepared and what we learned on our year long voyage. Did our planning pay off? Was our advanced weather forecast accurate? Our two main sources of weather information were the experienced human weather router, Bob MacDavitt in NZ and PredictWind.com with the latest AI weather forecasting tools
So, what could we have done to improve the trip and what is our advice to anyone following in our wake.
Now that we have reached Tahiti, we are planning to stay here for awhile to renew old friendships, volunteer our assistance to other sailors, passing along the help that we received during our 34 years of sailing in the tropics. I will also be assisting the GLYWO25 fleet across the Pacific and South East Asia and our three sailing Schipperkes also wish to meet any sailing dogs passing in the area. In 2027 we plan to visit some of the less visited areas of French Polynesia such as the Australs and the Gambiers.
