A yacht docked in the main port of Siracusa, at berth 37, reported having two items stolen from the deck of their boat on the night of May 8, 2019. Joe Jay told Noonsite;

“We were on board sleeping, during the night the boat was boarded and my bike was stolen. I was docked stern-to right across from the last restaurant/bar which has security cameras. I reported the theft to the police. They looked at the cameras and confirmed that at 0430 a small boat approached from the starboard side with two people on board. One climbed on board and took a bike that was on deck next to the pilot house. In the pilot house, close to the bike, was a small marine VHF radio which he took as well.”

The bike was secured, but not chained or locked.
