Experience of a visit to Morocco: January 2018

Published 6 years ago, updated 5 years ago

Taken from his yacht in Mohammédia.

Tanger:

Authorities: The authorities are very kind and helpful, only their procedures take a lot of time. You have to pass the Customs, Immigration and Police.  To clear in took 4 hours. To declare it took 1 hour. They just ask for arms and drones.

Harbour: They gave me a place in the fishing harbour, it’s a dirty harbour due to the oil from the fishing fleet. The quay gives problems when there is a spring tide and at high water, the fenders jump up on to the quay.

Town: Special – the Medina is beautiful to visit.

Developments: There is a new harbour under construction with the plan to move the fishing boats to the new harbour and make yacht facilities in the fishing harbour. It is planned for this summer.

Rabat:

Was closed due to the swell from the NW.

Mohammédia:

Authorities: The authorities are very kind and helpful and are really efficient.

Harbour: There are just a few berths available in the Marina and the price for a 15m yacht is Dhm 365 a day. The harbour master of the commercial harbour asked for a 15m yacht – Dhm 275 a day. So this is altogether a really expensive harbour.

Town: In the old town the central fish restaurant is interesting to visit.

Storm: A storm destroyed in the first week of 2018 nearly all the poles of the two jetties. It will take some time to repair.

Casablanca:

Was closed due to construction work of the new Marina.

Agadir:

Authorities: The authorities are very kind and efficient.

Harbour: Is good for a good price. For a 15m yacht –  Drm 292 – for one week Drm 1610.
