Description:

No cruise to the West Country of the UK is complete without a visit to this famous sea-faring town, with its attractive cobbled streets and alleys. Even without the town, the harbour and its various rivers are worth exploring, not forgetting its near neighbour, the Helford River. It is very easy to spend a week or two here!

Cruiser Highlights:

This is a harbor accessible in any weather as well as day or night. There is a choice of marinas, mooring buoys/balls and anchorages.
The town has a range of skilled craftsmen and most marine parts and supplies are to be found here. There are many attractive shops, restaurants and cafes, in addition to being the site of the National Maritime Museum.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

Although the entrance is both wide and deep, there is an isolated rock in the centre. It is well marked and also lit. The headland on the eastern side of the entrance has a prominent lighthouse.

Be aware that this harbor is also regularly used by large commercial ships as well as cruise liners.

Position:

50°08.62’N, 05°01.78’W (harbor entrance)

Island pontoon off town not present.
Falmouth Marina unlikely to accommodate visitors, inner Basin very silted, approach shallow – keep to Marina channel and beware LW Springs.
