New Zealand’s Subantarctic Islands - Clearance
General Process:
Any vessel wishing to visit these islands must contact the Department Of Conservation to apply for permission. Entry is by permit only.
There are strictly enforced impact restrictions and codes as well as anti-biodiversity precautions to be taken when visiting here.
A hull inspection is also required.
There is a landing fee per day per person. This covers quarantine and processing costs as well as including the new Subantarctic Guidebook.
There is an annual quota of tourists allowed to visit each site. All visitors, including those on yachts, must be accompanied by an official DOC guide.
