Description:

Majuro is the capital of the Marshall Islands. The downtown area is spread between Uliga and Delap, which are the locations of all the government offices, the main stores and hotels, and commercial offices.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

Entrance can be a bit daunting if there is a big swell with waves breaking all over the place, but recent cruiser reports indicate it’s not as scary as it may seem.  Green beacons are in place but two red beacons are missing (July 2023).

Cruiser Highlights:

There is a cruiser net every morning at 0730 on VHF Channel 71 where you can ask anything you need to know.  On Tuesdays there is a cruiser’s dinner at a local restaurant.  Any local sailor will tell you where. See the following report for more information.

Security:

The first incident reported to Noonsite was in August 2019 when a yacht was boarded at night by an intruder, having left their main hatch open. See related reports for more details.

Position:

07° 09.87’N, 171° 11.34’E (pass entrance)

Jan 2018 The NTA has rolled out a very good 4G wifi system with expanding coverage, currently, all of Majuro and Ebeye are fully covered. The 4G is easily accessible anywhere in the lagoon and nearshore including the two designated mooring areas. No wifi yet outside Majuro or Kwajalein atolls.
