Report from SY Alykone 12. Dezember 2019:
The Marina in Melaka has been dredged to 4m (at low water) in Summer 2019. So it can now be used by cruising boat of nearly every size. There is a bar on the outer river entrance with 1,5m at low water, so you have to check the tide table to define, when you can enter and leave. The Marina has 24h security, electricity and water (quite expensive: 0,3 RM per liter). The daily berthing fee is 2 RM per meter.
The habourmaster office in the marina building is still working, if you check in to Malaysia, customs and immigration had to be visited (all crew members) in the ferry terminal (less than 10 min. walk). As nearly everywhere in Malaysia all people including the officials are extremly friendly and helpful.

Report from SY Sirius: 12 November 2016
We just cleared into Melaka. We anchored out in 4.6m with shelter from the new landfill to the north. We left the dinghy at the marina.

At the Jabatan Laut (harbour master) office in the marina building, we filled in various papers. Boat stamp was requested. No Port Clearance was issued, we were told this was not required till we arrive in Langkawi.

We then walked out the gate towards town and across the causeway which veers right, crossing the river to the CIQS building. There they have full immigration and customs for ferries.

Customs came out to meet us in the waiting area, took our last Port Clearance original (from Indonesia). Stamped it on the back and returned it. They advised this was all that was required until we clear out at Langkawi.

Immigration took us through to the secure customs area, opened an office and 3 people processed immigration including passport stamps, fingerprinting (now a requirement) and gave us documents in a sealed envelope to give to Immigration Langkawi.

All completed within 1 1/2 hours including 10 minutes walking time from the marina to CIQS.
    Very efficient.
From CIQS it is a short walk into historic Melaka town.

We were obliged to stop at Malacca because of engine problems. The marina is out of service except for little sailing boats. The pontoons are destroyed, but if it’s an emergency it is possible to anchor behind the marina. Be careful with your draft – just 1.2m at low tide.

We found Song Service Center to help us with our engine problems. Address:
    5039-C, 1516 Batang Tiga, Malaka
    Phone: 019-666 4081.

Ask also Brandon Thein at 016-2838278… they can also repair fibreglass.
