Villasimius - General Info

Description:

A very useful marina on the southern coast of Sardinia for a passage to or from Sicily.

Located on the Eastern side of the bay of Cagliari. Slightly open to the north, a relatively small fetch but some swell can make its way in.

Pretty, but reported to be quite unfriendly. The high cost for overnight berthing coupled with the poor facilities makes this a useful place a quick rest, stopover or shelter only. The marina is a long walk from anything.

Position:

39° 07.32’N, 09° 30.38’E (marina entrance)

Yes, all true what is written above. Especially the quite unfriendly part and in the middle of nowhere. We’ve been there on the 10.07.2018. The asked for 120,00€ for a 15m sailing boat and when we came to the shower they asked for 2,00€ to have a warm shower. I asked the Marina via mail if they think this o.k. The answer is below. You really feel welcome there.

    Dear Mr Metz,
my name is Renato Marconi and I am the General Manager of Marina di Villasimius.
I received your complaint but I don’t worry about that.
Our Marina was elected years ago as one of the 10 best in the world because of the beauty of the location, services and environmental sustainability.
You have a 15 m boat and you paid the right tariff for the period (July).
You also paid 2 € for the hot shower.
We decided to ask our clients a coin (2 €) for the showers in order to restrict the use of the hot water and save the environment.
I am not kidding when I tell you that after this decision the hot water consumption has been reduced to 1/10 compared to the past.
    This is our policy.
    Best regards,
    RM

There is excellent anchoring west of the marina, we had a storm from the north and felt very protected. Good holding.

There are beautiful anchorages near the marina on both sides of the point. Very nice sand and good holding just outside the marina on the west side. Good restaurants and some shops in the marina. On the east side is a huge beach at Porto Giunco. Also very good holding in sand and well protected from north-westerly mistral.
