There are only 2 or 3 places available for yachts to berth, on the NE quay at the extreme end of the breakwater. When we visited, these berths were occupied, so we anchored in front of the town.

It was a very uncomfortable anchorage, even with a little northerly wind there were choppy waves, also waves bouncing back from the town quay. A better place would be at the south side of the castle in front of the beach.

We visited Koroni after a very pleasant stay in Methoni but were not happy with the visit there. The town waterfront has a distinct aroma of sewage, the bay is uncomfortable in northerly winds, and there is really no provision (or a beach) for landing dinghies.

We moved on to Petaldi, about ten miles north of Koroni, and found it much more friendly, with a sand beach for dinghy landings, water readily available, and clean enough to encourage swimming off the boat.

    Reported by Tony Olin:

The town quay in Koroni is too shallow for docking, good holding in mud, but watch for boulders in the area around the breakwater. Better anchoring off the beach.

Good tavernas and shops in the town.
Improvement works to the breakwater ongoing, no water or fuel available to cruisers.
