This small holiday town is a major yachting centre (with the 2nd largest marina in Germany) as well as a fishing port. It lies about 45NM west of Kiel.

    This is the second largest marina in Germany and the only one I found anywhere in the Baltic with a book exchange. Alas none in English: I donated a few and the harbourmaster said if any more are donated he will start a shelf just for English books. Yes, that was a hint.

    The town is a tourist resort: this is where Germany comes for its holidays. Like many others, it has a carillon: there seems to be a competition as to who has the most bells!
