Puerto Ayora (Academy Bay) - Marine Supplies

Cruisers report finding an excellent combined Ferreteria /Chandlery  about a 10 minute walk from the quay.  This is not the same as the Ferreteria that is on the quay. Well equipped with everything from new Yamaha outboards to refrigerant as well as tools and oils;

Some parts and supplies are available locally but essential spares can be flown in from the mainland if one is prepared to wait.

If in need of engine parts, it is best to contact one of the local mechanics who will order them from his contacts in Guayaquil.

Note: It is not recommended to send spare parts. The courier service is expensive and slow.

    Important information for all cruisers who are planning to visit Galapagos Islands: when choosing the agent never ever go for Ronny Sanches, Tironne S.A. We have a very bad experience in March 2018, our passports as well as boat passport was stolen from his office and he even didn’t inform us about that immediately. His phone numbers and office address are wrong in his business card and it was very difficult to cooperate with him.

      in fact we traveled in the month of October, and that agent took care of us perfect, besides that we saved budget, unlike other local agents of galapagos.
