Caribbean: Grenada – Robber Imprisoned after Attack & Robbery on Cruisers in 2009

Nelon Noel, a 22-year-old unemployed man of Belmont St. George’s, Grenada, pleaded guilty to Robbery with violence at the opening of the October Assizes on 5th October 2010.

Noel was one of two men who robbed Norwegian cruiser Nils Tarberg and his wife in April 2009, taking a number of valuable articles from their boat, SY Mary Jean, whilst at anchor in Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada, and attacking Mrs. Tarberg in the process.

Articles valued at $4150.00, including a Toshiba laptop, two cellular phones, and cash, were stolen. For a full report of this incident see here.

On the 7th October 2010, Nelon Noel was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by Justice Lyle St Paul, having acknowledged that he had five previous convictions all for stealing.
