Situated in the heart of the town of Whangarei.

The entrance to the marina is through the Te Matau a Pohe opening bridge. While many vessels will be able to pass under the bridge without requiring the bascule (lifting platform) to be raised, vessels over 6.5 metres in height will need to phone or radio a request to bridge control to see if the bridge needs to be lifted.

280 pontoon, finger and pile berths. Multihull berths available. All facilities, laundry, WiFi, TV lounge, BBQ, book swap library, free pump-out (at nearby Riverside Drive Marina), rubbish and recycling.  Marine services nearby.

A children’s playground, art museum, restaurants, swimming pools, tourist information center and shops surround the marina.

The marina has obtained resource consent to build a new 116-berth marina downstream of the opening bridge.  Works are due to start in November 2022 with completed expected by November 2024
