Montserrat: The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean
Sail in. Drop anchor. Experience Montserrat.
Located approximately 35 nautical miles southwest of Antigua, Montserrat is an easy addition to a Leeward Islands sailing itinerary. Known as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, the island combines lush mountain landscapes, uncrowded waters, distinctive black-sand beaches, hidden coves, vibrant marine life and a rich Afro-Irish heritage.
Visiting yachts can anchor at Port Little Bay, the island's official seaport of entry, and clear Customs and Immigration before going ashore.
Once ashore, there is plenty to discover: explore the Buried City Plymouth, the former capital transformed by the Soufrière Hills volcanic eruption; take a boat trip along the west coast; snorkel or dive the island's reefs; hike the Centre Hills; visit the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and Botanical Garden; sample local cuisine; or simply enjoy a drink and conversation at a local bar.
Montserrat also offers something rarely found elsewhere in the Caribbean, an island with a fascinating musical legacy, shaped in part by the legendary AIR Studios, and a vibrant calendar of cultural events including the year-end Carnival and St Patrick's Festival.
Don’t sail by. Stay for the experience.
