Konpira Yacht Services (formerly Konpira Consulting) was established in 2018 to help foreign cruisers make the most of their Japan cruising experience. Kirk Patterson, founder and president of Konpira Yacht Services, spent six years cruising Japan and is the first (and still only) foreigner to do a full Japan circumnavigation. A native of Canada and a 40-year resident of Japan, he is fluent in Japanese and based in Fukuoka. He is supported by full-time employees in Fukuoka and Okinawa, by part-time employees in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, and by associates throughout Japan. Kirk is the Japan Port Officer for the Ocean Cruising Club.

Konpira Yacht Services provides comprehensive, customized support to superyachts. They recognize that serving superyacht clients requires taking of the owner, guests, captain, and crew. That includes applying for crew visas, handling arrival and ongoing government paperwork; arranging provisioning and bunkering; providing passage planning and moorage advice; making reservations for moorage, guides, cars/drivers, trains/planes, and sightseeing tours; organizing special events and activities; and helping deal with medical, mechanical, and bureaucratic emergencies.
