About Us

Introducing Noonsite

Over the past two decades, Noonsite has been the cruising yachtsman’s primary source of worldwide cruising information, including a wealth of up-to-date information on practically every country of interest. As the only source on the web for detailed information on country formalities and what to expect when you first arrive in a foreign port, plus port and marina information, a wealth of reports from cruisers and the latest cruising news, Noonsite should be bookmarked as every skipper’s favorite.

Noonsite’s formalities information is carefully researched by our dedicated editorial team, using government, tourist board, port and clearance authority contacts that have been developed over the years. We are continually checking and updating our formalities information, however, as we cover the whole world this means that at any one time some countries will be at least 2 years out of date (there is only so much we can do at any one time with our small team). We always verify the information we publish and welcome emails from our users to check for latest updates. Please help us too by letting us know if you have a different clearance experience to that on Noonsite, or indeed if our information was 100% accurate. It all helps us keep on top of things.

Continually Developing

2020 saw a new channel of information open up to assist cruisers with the complex Covid protocols that were constantly changing at ports of entry worldwide – an information service that won Noonsite two awards.

The same year we launched a new mapping system easily displaying ports of entry, open and closed ports, marinas and boatyards around the world and giving direct access to port and country information on the site.

Noonsite’s users share information with each other via the “comments” function on all ports, countries and reports. This requires a free subscription which also gives you access to member discounts.

In 2022 paid subscriptions were introduced for members wanting unlimited access to the site and access to Noonsite offline. Find out more at https://www.noonsite.com/membership-account/membership-levels/.

Noonsite’s latest update was launched in March 2023 with a host of design improvements to enhance site user experience, based on feedback from sailors that use Noonsite regularly. Navigation is now simpler, in particular on mobile devices, site speed is faster and member features have been greatly improved.

The majority of Noonsite still remains a free resource for the cruising community, as it has been for over 20 years.

Awards

Noonsite has received a number of awards in recent years, as well as being nominated for the Maritime Media Awards in 2017.

Don’t Miss

Noonsite’s free monthly newsletter is the ideal way to keep abreast of what’s going on in the world of long-distance cruising.

Meet the team that runs Noonsite

Our team is small, but all are enthusiastic about maintaining Noonsite as the most useful resource for the cruising community, as it has been for two decades.

Sue Richards - Staff PhotoSue Richards: Site Editor

Sue has been in the yachting industry for over 30 years and at the helm of Noonsite since 2008. Her working life has included graphic design, flotilla and superyacht crew, yachting event management, corporate events and yacht rallies. As Editor of Noonsite, Sue ensures that the website is kept as up to date as possible, sharing the latest cruising news and reports from around the world and continually expanding the site content. She is the first point of contact for all the sailors that use Noonsite.

A keen sailor, Sue has been cruising on yachts from a young age, beginning with the North Sea, UK and Northern France. As an adult she began cruising extensively in the Mediterranean, Atlantic basin, Caribbean and the Eastern seaboard of the States, and ultimately through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific.

Now settled in Spain with a young family, Sue enjoys plenty of time on the water cruising locally.

Lynda Lim - Staff PhotoLynda Lim: Sub-Editor

Lynda’s first sailing experience was as a teenage student on the New Zealand sail training vessel “Spirit of Adventure”. However, it wasn’t until more than 40 years later that she got the wind in her sails again with a sailing adventure through SE Asia on a 43ft catamaran with her husband.

In between times Lynda trained as a journalist and has worked in Australia and New Zealand for newspapers, magazines, in website content development and as a freelance writer. As well as sailing, Lynda is a keen surfer and stand up paddle boarder and brings a wealth of experience both in and on the water to the Noonsite team.

Michell Goodman: Editorial Assistant

Michell joined Noonsite at the start of 2021 to assist the editorial team with research and updates.

Having traveled extensively in her youth and lived in Costa Rica, Thailand, Malaysia and now The Philippines, Michell is a practicing  yoga teacher with a demanding cat and two teenage boys.
