An Alternative to Marmaris Marinas – Maybe?

Published 6 years ago, updated 5 years ago

Update received 16th July 2010, from Lee of Top Yacht.

Try 36 42′.9N – 28 14′.6 E !! Featured in Rod Heikells East Aegean Pilot pages 231/2. Quite a popular spot, also recommend Deniz Restaurant and pontoon, lots of our clients stop there. Can get busy during the day with jet skis etc. but a good overnight stop. Also a mini market for essentials.

[We have been unable to identify this anchorage. The only Ciflik found is Ciflik Limani about 10nm east of Datca. The description does fit this anchorage, but if anyone has any more information, please contact Noonsite. Ed.]

A good alternative for the busy and expensive marina’s in Marmaris we found in the small bay of Ciftlik, behind the rock island Ciftlik Adasi (about 8 Nm SSE of Marmaris). You can either anchor in weed/sand bottom or ty-up to one of the many (5+) restaurant jetties. Entering the bay you are welcomed by the different hosts waving their flag to attract your attention to moor at their jetty.

We stayed at Deniz restaurant, free power, water, WiFi, clean showers, friendly family run business with good meals for reasonable prices.

    Data Entry says:

Just to note, Ciftlik is good shelter from North sector winds, but beware of southerlies and easterlies, which can drive seas into this small, and sometimes crowded, harbor. In late Oct. 2017, a thunderstorm over Rhodes forced a dozen or more boats to flee Ciftlik at 1:30 AM due to untenable conditions.
