Since November 1st 2014 berthing rates in Labuan marina have changed.

There are two different rates for “Domestic” and “International” users:-

Daily: Domestic RM 0.80 per foot / International RM 1.00 per foot

Weekly: Domestic RM 4,80 per foot / International RM 6.00 per foot

Monthly: Domestic RM 10.20 per foot / International RM 24 per foot

All boaters requiring berthing at the marina are required to have:

– Boat registry certificate (original copy)

– A valid passport for entry (and stay) in Malaysia for owner/captain and all guest and crew staying on board

– Port clearance of the last port of call

– Valid insurance for the boat with a third party

After 2 years of extensive renovations, the Marina has reopened.   Labuan Marina is a 5-minute walk to Supermarkets and hundreds of great restaurants, bars and nite clubs. Beautiful island with clear water, clean tree-lined streets and white sandy beaches.  It is about 20 miles West of Brunei.

The Island has Duty Free status and is also an International Business and Financial. The Marina is Government Built and operated

The public marina is still closed, but we were welcome to leave our dinghy there when we went ashore, and have access to the showers as well as get water and drop garbage. No fee for any of those services. With the limited access and a gate guard, it is more secure than the beach landing. That fantastic Indian restaurant is still on the premises!

The Labuan Public Marina is undergoing a major redevelopment which will temporarily affect its services.

Works officially commenced on 1 September 2011, at which time the marina was closed to access for an indeterminate period. Boats already tied up were allowed to remain, but arriving boats should contact the helpful staff at the marina (details as below) to ascertain whether they can access the marina, and what services are available eg. pontoon, freshwater and/or electricity.

The scheduled completion date is December 2012.

It might still be possible to take dinghies into the marina and leave them there – a more secure option than others if people aren’t going to use the water taxi from their boat if they anchor in the harbour.

Readers familiar with the Labuan Marina should note that the BK Maya Marina restaurant, serving great Indian food located at the Marina building, will remain open and a very good meal can be had there at a reasonable price under the care of the generous and welcoming hosts, Balwinder and Mukah Kaur.
