In the early hours of 13 October 2010, the 54ft Gulfstar, “Two Amigos”, anchored off Quepos, Costa Rica, was boarded by 6 armed masked men with shotguns and knives.

They tied up the two male crew members with duct tape and held them hostage for 2 hours while they stripped the boat of radar, electronics, radios, and personal belongings and cash. Total value $12k plus.

The gunmen made their escape via boat.

Local Police was unable to help much as there is a small spit off Quepos that the police regard as a NO GO area. This area is currently somewhat out of control.

“Two Amigos” also had their dinghy and outboard stolen at Coco Beach, 30 miles North of here, and their viewpoint of Costa Rica as a safe cruisers destination is thoroughly tainted.
