After some thirteen months with no reports of robberies at the Chateaubelair anchorage, the Caribbean Safety and Security Net [BROKENLINK] have received a report of an assault and robbery of a yacht during the late evening hours of 18 October 2009.

Around 21:00 the yacht was boarded by four men, armed with pistols and machetes. A female crew member was reportedly cut with a machete. The men stole cash, a watch and a cell phone. Following the incident, the yacht hauled anchor and sailed to Martinique where a report was made to the police.

Seven incidents at Chatteaubelair have been reported to the Caribbean Safety and Security Net in less than 2 years, with another four probable, and eight in the 18 months prior to that period. Yachts are not recommended to anchor at Chateaubelair and should tell everyone they know of the dangers there.
