My plan is to depart Phuket about 1st of Feb direct for the Seychelles staying above 6 deg. N. after passing the Maldives. Then drop down NNE of the Seychelles & use the southern Hem NW monsoons to make Port Victoria. Then depart for Mayotte about the end of May as soon as the SE trades arrive. Any ideas on this?

Your plan sounds OK, but do not rely too much on NW winds south of the equator to make Port Victoria, or you may end up beating into SW winds instead! What I suggest - unless you have some reliable and up-to-date weather information - is to cross the equator only when you are more or less due north of the Seychelles... or even past their longitude if there is any chance of SW winds south of the Line.

Please drop us a line once you are safely in the Seychelles as I am sure other noonsite visitors would be interested to know how it all went for you.

Good luck!
