Recommendations At Gulf Harbour Marina, Whangaparoa

I stored Let’s Go! on the hardstand at Gulf Harbour Marina, Whangaparoa, during the period November 2004 through January 2005. During this period, I required several maintenance projects to be undertaken in my absence so that the boat would be ready to sail as soon as I returned. This was, as always, a very risky practice because you are relying on various tradespeople to follow your instructions and meet your deadlines while you are not there to provide supervision or apply the necessary pressure.

In my case, Mike Menzies, of Mike Menzies Marine Services ([email protected]), based at Gulf Harbour and one of New Zealand’s most respected yacht surveyors and osmosis treatment experts, provided project management services for a very reasonable charge. I had known Mike from the osmosis treatment he had performed on a previous yacht as very experienced in all aspects of marine repair and fitness as well as for being impeccably honest and pleasant to work with. I am recommending Mike, with his permission, in the event other boat owners have to have work done in New Zealand while in absentia. I should also say that the yard staff at Gulf Harbour are some of the most customer friendly and professional I have experienced and the tradespeople excellent.
