Caribbean: DR, Samana - Dinghy and Outboard Theft

We had our dinghy and outboard (Yamaha 2PS) stolen in the Samana Bay, Dominican Republic - January 2010.

At night our dinghy was up in the davids but not locked to the boat. Luckily we paid the dinghy back for 200 USD, and the comandancia in Sabana del Mar was very helpful with that, but the motor was lost, even after we said we would pay another 200 USD.

Arriving in Luperon, we heard that Samana Bay has often problems with dinghy and outbord thefts.
