On 30 July, 2008, the sailing vessel "Illusion" was reluctantly abandoned off the coast of New Caledonia (see the original news report for full details).

Her owners, Ann and Chris Robinson, are safe ashore after battling heavy weather conditions and sustaining some injuries, however "Illusion" is still adrift and missing.

The Robinsons would appreciate any help fellow cruisers can give, such as alerting cruising nets, ham radio operators and informing other cruisers, etc.

"Illusion" is a 34-foot cutter-rigged sloop, with white top-sides and dark green sunbrella canvas. She was abandoned at position 23-degrees 37.78-min South 159-degrees 20.59-min East. It is expected she is drifting towards the West coast of New Caledonia.

If you have any information, please contact Ann and Chris Robinson at illusionrobinson@hotmail.com
