World Cruising Club Rally Portugal 2008 Entry List Opens

Rally Portugal 2008 starts on 1st June in Plymouth, England and finishes on 24th June in Lagos, Portugal. In between, the fleet will sail to Bayona and then onto Lagos via Povoa de Varzim, Figueira da Foz, Peniche, Oeiras and Sines.

The entry list is now open and the first yacht has been signed up for the 13th edition of World Cruising Club's Rally Portugal, sponsored by Marina de Lagos, the premier marina on the Algarve.

A maximum 30 entries are expected for this intimate cruising rally run over seven legs and enjoyed as much for the friendships that are forged and the places visited along the way as for the actual sailing. Indeed, the objectives of Rally Portugal are to encourage safety, fun and companionship between yachts and their crews to help make the offshore passage even more enjoyable. Sailing in company allows information and assistance to be pooled, benefiting everyone involved.

As part of the development of Rally Portugal since its inception in 1995, Leg 5 now steers the fleet to Oeiras Yachting Harbour (or Porto de Recreio de Oeiras to give it its Portuguese name), a fabulous new marina that was opened just in time to host a stopover during the 2007 Rally and which provides excellent access by public transport to Lisbon as well as being situated in a delightful little town.
