Cuxhaven : Profile
The Elbe is the busy entrance for the port of Hamburg, and great care must be taken if crossing the shipping lanes here. The town itself, once clear or the marina, has character and is worth exploring. It is a popular stop for both land-based visitors and yachts on their way to Helgoland.
Elbe VTS VHF Channel 71 'Cuxhaven Elbe Traffic' VTS is not mandatory for yachts, but it is advisable to moitor the VHF. Radar guidance can be requested (in English) if necessary.
Marina Cuxhaven Tel:+49 (0)4721 37363 53.52N 8.42E. 45 visitors' berths. All facilities. Entrance is via a swing bridge off the Alter Hafen. The bridge opens on the hour and half hour between 0600 and 2100 on request using VHF 69.
Yacht Club Marina (Segler-Vereingung) Tel:+49 (0)4721 34111 / restaurant 66325 All facilities. Open April to October. Diesel by jerry can. 10 ton crane, repairs, LPG, chart agent, laundry, restaurant and bar.
