Degrad des Cannes : Profile
This is the main port of French Guiana, located on the NW bank of the Mahury river.
Normally the gendarmes will come out to the yacht to check passports and ship's papers. The port captain's office should then be visited. Clearing in is no
problem in the commercial port.
There are no shops around, except for a small restaurant in the commercial harbour, 2 km away. Nearest shops are 6 km away, best to be reached by hitch hiking or by taxi bus.
The entrance is lit and buoyed, and yachts usually anchor outside the main channel by the shore. There are also now floating pontoons with water and electricity (220V) up the river, just beyond the commercial port on the starboard side of the river.
