Quibiberon Bay : Profile
Affaires Maritimes Auray Tel:+33 (0)2 97 24 01 43
This large area of protected water makes a wonderful sailing area. Bounded on the west by the Presqu’ile de Quiberon, with the islands on Belle Ile, Houat and Hoedic stretching away to the SE. To the north, on the mainland, is the sailing centre of La Trinité and the entrance to the Golfe de Morbihan and the wonderful medieval towns of Auray and Vannes.
Auray Tel:HM +33 (0)2 97 56 29 08 Unless you have an air draft of less than 14m and can dry out, pick up a fore and aft visitor's mooring below the road bridge and dinghy up to the town quay. Beware of the huge tidal range. Even if your dinghy is still afloat, it may be impossible to reach!
An interesting town and worth the trip up the river.
Port Haliguen Presqu'ile de Quberon Tel:+33 (0)2 97 50 20 56, VHF Channel 09 port-haliguen@sagemor.fr All facilities and good services. Travel lift, crane, yacht club. Limited provisions in the port. Best to hire a bike and cycle to Quiberon town.
Port Navalo A small port right at the entrance to the Morbihan. A useful place to wait for slack water. Possible to borrow a vacant mooring or anchor near the end of the pier. The bright shore lights make entering at night a little difficult.
