Docking

This foremost centre of yachting in France can be entered in all weathers and at all stes of the tide. Its entrance is sheltered from the atlantic swell by the off lying island of Ile de Groix.

Once past the forts guarding the entrance, the estuary opens out and there are several bays, inlets and marinas. There is the large Kernevel marina, the small quiet marina of Port-Louis, another small marina, Sainte Catherine at Locmiquelic. Further up the river is Pen-Mane marina and opposite this is the entrance to the Avant Port and the city basin, where there are good, sheltered pontoons just inside, to port. This is a good berth, being close to the city, but still being pleasently open.

Beyond the entrance to the Avant Port, is the main marina at Quai de Rohan. A good sheltered spot, if rather hot in summer.

There is a good anchorage, at neaps, ESE of the breakwater at Locmalo. Another, more open anchorage, is on the west side of the entrance, off Larmor. The Anse de Goerem provides a good anchorage in easterlies.
