Caen-Ouistreham : Profile
Caen is known for its historical buildings, built during the reign of William the Conqueror, who was buried here. Ouistreham is the small English channel port and fishing harbour, which serves as the port for the city of Caen. Both places have marinas accessed via locks.

The marina at the port of Ouistreham is accessible at all states of the tide. If proceeding up the 14kn canal to Caen, the lock there is open approximately 2 hrs each side of HW.
If sailing to Caen from Ouistreham, leave in sufficient time (at least 30 minutes) to reach the bridge at Benouville (Pegasus Bridge) at 1010, 1330 or 1630. On leaving Caen, the bridge at the entrance to the marina opens at 0845, 1200 and 1500.

It has been reported that the Bureau du Port is only open for about two hours in the afternoon, a magnetic key is necessary for the showers etc.
