The entrance is possible at all states of the tide and in most weather. Being both a fishing port and a ferry terminal, there are a large number of ship movements in and out of the port.
The marina is alongside Quai Chanzy in the tidal Avant Port. A more peaceful berth is in the locked Bassin Napoleon.
There is no anchoring in the outer harbour, Rade Carnot.
