Las Salinas : Profile
It has been reported to us that this is now a Port of Entry, but at present this has not been confirmed.
Las Salinas de Bani, between Santo Domingo and Azua in the SW part of the country, is a great place for waders and shorebirds. Salinas is an area that includes salt mines, mangroves, sand dunes, and thorn scrub. It is an undeveloped part of the coast, but the Calderas Bay provides good protection.
If anchoring in the bay, the holding is very good in front of the Hotel Salinas and it is possible to leave the dinghy at the pontoon there.
The depth at the pontoon is 2.5m.
Hotel Salina Puerto Las Salinas Tel:809 310-8141 Helpful owner. Pontoon, water and electricity. We have been advised it is possible to clear out here now (2007).
