Clearance

On arrival remain on board and contact ‘Comandancia Militar’ on VHF channel 16 or allow the marina to make all the arrangements. After the inspection the following items need to be deposited at the Harbour Master’s office:- The vessel’s documents, the insurance policy, a crew list and passport information, and a credit card voucher. Garbage may also be deposited at the office. No departure or arrival may be before 0600 or after 1800 without special permission obtained from ‘Comandancia de Puerto’ on VHF channel 16.

The arrival inspection will be carried out by a Navy Office, Narcotics, Customs, Immigration, Agriculture officials, and Port Police. The fees total about US$120, whether you let the marina arrange it, or spend the extra time and taxi fares doing it yourself. There is an additional charge of $20/person when checking out. The Military Commander will issue the captain with a territorial water clearance, valid for 3 months. Notification of departure must be made via ‘Comandancia de Puerto’ on VHF channel 16. Departure after 1700 is regarded as an additional night's stay.
