Kyrenia : Profile
Situated on the north coast of Cyprus, Kyrenia, has a 6,000 year long history and the remains of countless civilisations. Bounded to the north by the sea and to the south by the greenery of the Besparmak (Fivefinger) Mountain range, it offers the most magnificent scenery on the island.
The beautiful harbour is dominated by a majestic castle which houses a museum containing the remains of an ancient ship which was salvaged from the sea.
Clearance and immigration proceedures are fast, competent and free of charge. The citizens of European Union nations, Turkey, USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Australia and New Zealand do not require visa.
All other nationals should check their position with regard to passports and visas with the nearest Embassy or Office of Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Visitors who do not wish to have their passports stamped by the authorities on arrival in North Cyprus may request a stamped visa form which is loosely inserted into the passport and removed on departure.
Berths are to be found in the Delta Marina, situated in the commercial harbour. The Harbourmaster will provide pilotage information on VHF channel 16.
