Clearance

Contact the port captain on Channel 16 and proceed into the commercial harbour. Visiting boats are allowed to use one of the disused commercial piers. The docks are in a bad state and tugs manoeuvring ships churn up the water, so boats should be tied up well and kept away from the dock by an anchor. Formalities are completed in the port itself.

Docking

Puerto Limón, on the Caribbean side, is the main port of Costa Rica. There is good provisioning and adequate repair facilities. Trains and buses run to San José.
