French Polynesia Cruising Advice

Is it possible to sail around the Society Islands, starting in Tahiti, going west and then coming back to Tahiti after a couple of weeks, notwithstanding the prevailing trade winds.

Any times of year better or worse for this?

How are facilities in Tahiti to haul out for cyclone season?

Yes, distances are small and if you don't mind beating into sometimes strong tradewinds, you can come back to Tahiti anytime! With time flexibility you might just enjoy the legs back to Tahiti.

Just before, during and just after cyclone season tradewinds tend to be lighter!

My personal experience between 1999 and 2003 push me to recommend both yards in Raiatea. I would recommend CHANTIER NAVAL DES ILES S/VENT as they provide very professional service and try to continue to improve their services constantly. Raiatea Carenage was good for us to haul out for temporary work on our 25ft wide trimaran (we did the work ourselves).
