Future Plans for Galle Harbour

There is a plan
· to make a port for commercial ships South and East of Gibbet Island. When that is realized, there will be more room for yachts.
· to extend the inner harbor between Closenburg pier and middle pier in a way that yachts in the extensions are protected by a breakwater. Here will be electricity and water to the yacht.
· to make a small pier between the middle pier and the river so a travel lift can have two tracks.
· to make hard stands and buildings for services like laundry, restaurants, tour operators and repair.
· to change port duties in a way that a sort stay, for instance just for bunkering, can be done against special tariff.
· to make the port tax free

There are no plans to allow yachts to anchor along the coast.
