Subject: dinghy and motor theft Dominican Republic, Samana Bay

Message:
Dominican Republic is a nice place, we spend two months crusing around.

Donīt pay all the fees they ask for (always try to bargain), and take care in Samana.

We had our dinghy and outboard (Yamaha 2PS) stolen in the Samana Bay, Dominican Republic. At night our dinghy was up in the davids but not locked to the boat. Luckily we paid the dinghy back for 200 USD, and the comandancia in Sabana del Mar was very helpful with that, but the motor was lost, even after we said we would pay another 200 USD.

Arriving in Luperon, we heard that Samana Bay has often problems with dinghy and outbord thefts.

All the other places very safe even at night.

The crusing guide which you can download helped us a lot. Thanks for that.

Greetings, Heike
