On the night of Monday 4 January 2010 (around midnight) a number of dinghy thefts were reported to noonsite at the Water Island USVI anchorage.

It appears the thieves first stole two dinghys at Crown Bay Marina and used those to steal 3 more from Long Bay and three from Elephant Bay. A total of eight.

The dinghys were all 15 hp motors except one center consul 40 hp.

A number of cruisers gave chase and the outcome was that all of the dinghys were recovered, although one had an expensive slash and the other was damaged after being stuffed under a dock.

Mixed reports have been received as to whether all the dinghies were locked and cabled.
