On June 7th, the Panama Canal Authority announced an increase in transiting fees of 13 per cent for all types of vessels. However, the announcement by Sr. Aleman Zubieta, Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority, was quite general in its description and did not refer to the status of pleasure craft. This could mean that no fee increases are envisaged for this type of craft, although a final decision has yet to be taken. October 1, 2002 will be the commencement date of the final agreed upon proposals which are still under discussion.

Noonsite will bring regular updates as they become available.
