Scarborough Marina is the official port of entry into Brisbane. This area is just at the limit of the cyclone belt and the harbour is perfectly sheltered. Beware of not arriving on a weekend as expensive overtime charges apply by the Quarantine authorities.
The marina is under new management. John Paul Mira speaks several languages and gives a very warm welcome to all overseas yachts. The marina fees are reasonable and the location is very good. Nearly all your needs can be solved in the Redcliffe Peninsula, less than 5 km from the marina. If you like big towns, Brisbane is a forty minute drive away.
Many yachties bought a car. It is very easy and cheap. (from AU$1,500)
On site, we have showers, laundry, telephone, internet, chandlery, yacht brokerage, a 35 Ton
travelift, and a few workshops (refrigeration, mechanics, electricity, etc.) with a few
restaurants and snacks places within walking distance.
John Paul works very hard to make people feel home : potlucks, games, sport, etc. are
organised regularly.
Scarborough is located just in between the Gold coast and the Sunshine coast. The weather is
fine all year round, breezy and warm in the day, cool in the night.

The arrival GPS fix is : 27°10.75 S and 153°06.30 E. Before arrival, call VHF 73.
All the overseas yachts are very happy here and we recommend strongly to the 2002 class to
try Scarborough Marina. Just call John Paul in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or
whatever…
s/y ZEPHYR have also contacted noonsite concerning Scarborough Marina, their comments are as follows:
We had heard that clearing into Australia could mean unpleasant officials.
But our experience clearing at Scarborough Marina, was the most friendly,
helpful and professional customs, immigration and quarantine officials. The
staff at Scarborough Marina, headed by John Paul Mira were also most helpful
and friendly. We would highly recommend Scarborough as your first landfall
into Australia.
