Chilean Canals

Ushuaia continues to be the best place to stock up for the trip to either Antarctica or through the Chilean canals. For boats going north absolutely nothing will be available before Puerto Eden or Puerto Natales. We sailed in March from south to north, which is definitely not the way to go as the winds were almost invariably from ahead and usually very strong. Anyone planning to visit this beautiful part of the world should attempt to go from north to south. An excellent publication, with the most up to date information, is Imray's Cruising Guide to Chile.
