We had our dinghy and outboard stolen while docked at Monkey Bay Marina in the Rio Dulce, Guatemala in July 2009. The dinghy was hauled up on stern davits. It was cut down during a thunderstorm.

We also heard on the SSB of recent, (Dec. 2009) thefts in Turniff Cays, Belize. At least two dinghys and outboards and at least one was chained to the mother ship. Others reported items stored inside of dinghys such as fishing gear being taken on the same night, again during heavy thunderstorms.

Thanks to James and Laura Kirby for this report.
