Total Solar Eclipse Will be Visible from Tuamotus – July 11, 2010!

Countries: French Polynesia

Cruising the Tuamotus is a highlight of any Pacific crossing, and an eclipse will only make it better. Plan now to be there for this spectacular celestial phenomenon.

Amanu and Hao look to be one of the best spots for viewing the eclipse. And it looks like they both have navigable passes. There are several other motus that are in the path of the total eclipse, but most are smaller atolls without any passes.

A total solar eclipse is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'd recommend that anyone cruising French Polynesia in 2010 make an effort to be in the path of totality. Posted by TimR and Susanne Ames, s/v Cheshire, Whangarei, NZ on the Pacific Puddle Jump Yahoo Group.

Here are a couple of good website for locating a viewing spot.
