Panama Canal Yacht Club is Closed

A long whispered rumor has finally become reality - the Panama Canal Yacht Club has been demolished. Bulldozers tore down the office, bar and restaurant, and are working to level the remaining small adjoining buildings. Yachts reportedly may remain at the docks until sometime toward the end of March but water and electricity outages have been reported.

For yachts anchored in the Flats, there is no longer a dinghy dock where the PCYC used to be (as of April 16, 2009). Several boats have been anchoring up the Chagres River without problems. It's possible to dinghy to shore and walk to a road leading to the Gatun Locks where you can catch a local bus into Colon or Cuatro Altos.
