Important Change to Fiji Regulations re. Yachts

The recent Fiji budget announcement for 2009 stated the return of the 18 months stay for visiting yachts (duty free) without a need to apply for an extension (the crew is still subject to a total allowable of 12 continuous months).

The 9 month minimum time out before re-entry has also been revoked.

This is effective 1st January 2009.

Finally, in addition, the government is going to create a "National Yacht Policy", scheduled to be released January 2009, addressing, amoungst other things, "superyachts" in Fiji.

These changes have come about due to a wide-scale lobbying campaign, both internal and external to Fiji.
