Your reporting of the facilities in Malaysia are understated. From Singapore to langkawi the area has a number of well equipped marinas. Port Dickson has a swimming pool and is nearby to provisioning. The new marina at Penang has new docks and good sercice but is badly located near the high speed ferries and moorage should be obtained as far north in the marina as possible to avoid the constant wave action from the ferries. The marina is right in the city. Telaga harbour and Rebak marina have both been completely rebuilt after the tsunami and offer a good storage area for exploring the area. Telaga has a good fuel dock but is very short on services such as mechanics and electricians. Locals know the best people and they are good. A mechanic is $50 per day. Rebok being on an island is somewhat isolated and you are restricted to using the ferry to Langkawi island but it does have haulout facilities. People take advantage of the tax free status for bringing in items like electronics, engines etc. Telaga is a very good marina but 40 minutes by car from the main city of Kuah. Provisioning at both places are served by a van evey friday where you can get frozen meat, fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices. Cars can be rented at Telaga for $20 for 24 hours and most people pool once a week to visit this very beautiful island. It is only a few hours from Koh Lipe in Thailand which is a beautiful island reminiscent of French Polynesia with its beautiful water and relatively laid back hospitality.
