Camper & Nicholsons – one of the oldest internationally recognised yachting business names – will be taking the title role in the Grenada Sailing Festival 2012 when the Camper & Nicholsons Racing Series will be run from the company’s Port Louis Marina from Friday 27 January to Tuesday 31 January. The ever-popular four-day event, now in its 19th year, will provide challenging top quality racing plus an early Regatta Season “Tune-Up” to the international yachts visiting the Caribbean for the winter and the highly competitive crews based in the Region.

The continued development of this partnership with Camper & Nicholsons has added a valuable new dimension to the event. Participating racers are now able to enjoy all the benefits of Port Louis, the island’s newest world-class marina, with marina berths for up to 90m and top-class facilities to all yachtsmen including a swimming pool, the brand new Victory Bar and Restaurant and many victualling and technical service operators on site.

Also for 2012 Camper & Nicholsons are promoting a great berthing offer to all competitors with 50% off berthing for 10 days dockage including the event dates providing the space is pre-booked. Contact the Marina Office direct on +1 (473) 435 7432 or email Danny Donelan on [email protected]

Racing will start and finish from Port Louis, and the courses will be concentrated on the island’s southern and eastern coasts, some of the most exciting and challenging sailing waters in the Caribbean. Already the event is attracting interest and entries from a wide range of well-known racers on the Caribbean regatta circuit, including 2011 Festival Winner Peter Morris with his yacht Jaguar, and some new names too.

There will be more great sailing action on Saturday and Sunday 4 & 5 February when the crowd-pulling local workboat regatta comes to Grand Anse Beach for 2012. Twinning this spectacular weekend of racing with the island’s Independence Celebrations makes a great attraction to locals and visitors alike. There will be all-action competition on the water between the sailing communities of Carriacou, Gouyave, Grand Mal, Petite Martinique, Sauteurs and Woburn, plus great entertainment and activities, local arts and crafts, and food stalls in a Community Kitchen, where all the best traditional dishes will be on offer. There will also be a Junior Dinghy Sailing Championship staged on Saturday 4 February, when Grenada’s talented young sailors will be able to show their skills to the crowd in an event sponsored by Budget Marine and organised by the Grenada Sailing Festival, Grenada Yacht Club and Grenada Sailing Association.
