Danish couple Jan Quist Johansen and Birgit Marie Johansen, with their three children (aged 13, 15, and 17) and two adult crew, were seized by pirates in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday 24 February aboard their yacht "ING".

The family are from Kalundborg, 120km (75 miles) west of Copenhagen.

The crew were moved from their yacht to a Greek vessel anchored near Gumbah where other foreign citizens were also being held.

The kidnappers are demanding $5 million for their release.

Government troops tried unsuccessfully to free them on March 10.
