Galapagos New Rules

Published 13 years ago, updated 5 years ago

Following reports from agents in the Galapagos, it appears that nothing has really changed from last year’s rules, despite the proposed changes that were reported by noonsite back in August.

Although only a very small percentage of visiting yachts request the cruising permit for the Park Area, it is still good news that requirements for tracking equipment on board yachts wishing to cruise the Park Area apparently will not be applied (see August report).

Most yachts call at the Galapagos under the Transit Rules and with less than 10 crew on board, and for this type of stopover, there is no change.

The first cruising yachts should start arriving in the Galapagos late December/early January. Noonsite will report should we hear of any changes to the contrary.
